You are invited to Duchess Retreat 2021

It’s hard to believe but next year will be the 20th Duchess Retreat I have hosted with my sister, Rhonda.

We are D1 and D2, Grand Duchesses of Scrap - self proclaimed!

As my business has changed, this event has remained a constant on the calendar but 2021 will be the very last Duchess Retreat.  It is open to beginner and experienced scrapbookers who want to have fun, learn something new and make pages.

If you have always thought you would come 'one year', this is your last chance!
If you have missed a few Duchess  Retreats in past years, this is your last chance!
If you have attended all or most, this will be the final and BEST one!

Let me share a little about what makes Duchess Retreat so special.

In a nutshell...

Duchess Retreat is a right royal weekend of fun and creativity. We celebrate our love of memory keeping and creating with paper.  You will make many pages, laugh a lot, learn so much from our crop talks and your chats with others plus enjoy 48 hours away from the daily grind at home.

The venue is well run, the cropping room is open 24/7, is well lit and the tables are spacious. The food is great and you don’t have to do the dishes.  You will sleep in share rooms, on comfy beds with linen provided.

That’s all I need to know!  I’m coming

Challenges explained

We will revisit 10 of the most popular techniques or layouts taught over the past 19 retreats and put a new spin on each of them.  Narrowing that list down to just 10 was such a challenge I can tell you!  The ideas shared adapt to your scrapbooking style.  Some are WOW pages and others are simple ideas you will use over and over.  Sadly, the pop up page didn’t make the cut.

Each of the 10 ideas shared becomes a challenge you can choose to accept or decline.  If you accept, you simply take what was taught and apply it to one of the scrapbook pages you make over the weekend.  Once you are done, your challenge card is ‘Blinged’.  If you complete all 10 challenges you are crowned with a beautiful tiara  and can proudly claim to be known as a Duchess!

A tiara history lesson

Back in the day, our tiara’s came from Red Dot.  They were plastic and gaudy and meant for children’s heads.  Since joining Close To My Heart seven retreats ago, our tiaras have become quite sophisticated.  They are now hand made by me and are truly bespoke and collectible items.

Tiara 2021 is going to be a priceless addition

to your wardrobe.

Oooh, I’ve always wanted to be royal. I’m in!

Here’s a little more info about what I’m teaching

– that’s important right?

Duchess Retreat is not just a girl’s weekend away.  There IS plenty of girlie fun but I want you to learn some cool techniques for your scrapbooking too.

Each year I make my samples using a featured collection of papers, stamps and embellishments.  This year's papers are called Lovely and Wood Grain You have the choice to pre-purchase some or all of these items or just bring supplies you already own.  I do need to tell you that FOMO often hits if you choose not to bring the suggested supplies.  If that happens to you, I am happy to share my tools and I may have some of the consumable items available for purchase on the weekend but that’s not guaranteed.

If you are new or it's been a long time since you've scarp-booked, ordering the featured collection will make life so easy for you.

I will send you more information once you are registered.  Be assured, whatever you choose to create with will look fabulous in your albums.

I’ve saved the most important thing for last…

Friday night is frock night.  We enjoy pre-dinner drinks and dine in our duchess finery. It’s called the Duchess Do and we ALL glam up!  Think Dame Edna, 1980’s bridesmaid dresses, bling and pearls, fabulous shoes and handbags.  You may like to add a luxurious faux fur if the evening is chilly.  Our favourite shops to find appropriate frocks are Op shops – there is treasure to be found on the racks.

Some of you may be lucky enough to have a mum, grandmother or aunt’s wardrobe to raid.  A few of you will only need to go to your own wardrobe!!

Don’t worry about looking silly or overdoing it – no one has EVER managed that.  You are more likely to stand out if you don’t look a little over the top!

I expect 2021 to be the BEST Duchess Do ever.
